Michael Gapes Michael Gapes is an Insurance Partner in the Professional Liability team.
Michael has gained extensive experience in a wide variety of insurance-related matters having practised in private practice and several senior in-house roles in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia.
Michael specialises in the defence of all types of professional indemnity claims (including claims against real estate agents, valuers, surveyors, financial advisers, financial institutions, brokers and healthcare professionals). He also has considerable experience in directors’ and officers’ liability claims, having gained this expertise whilst working for one of the world’s largest financial lines insurers in London and a large Swiss investment bank. Michael also has expertise in employment practices and pension trustee liability claims and is often asked to provide advice in relation to policy wording and interpretation issues. He has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution processes and an extremely able negotiator.
Michael works for a variety of domestic and international insurers and is well regarded by insurers, insureds and brokers for the high quality and accuracy of his work and the strategic, pragmatic approach that he adopts to claims management.
Michael is an active member of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group and the Australian Insurance Law Association. |
