Philip Glaister is Special Counsel to the Professional Liability Insurance team.

Philip has specialised in insurance and commercial litigation for over 20 years, as a claims handler, solicitor and a barrister.  During this time, he has been personally appointed to the panel of several Lloyd’s of London Syndicates and a Queensland-based national insurer. He acts for underwriters in complex disputes arising from large transactional property and development claims, including financiers, professional advisers and related parties.  He also advises on complex structural, mechanical and process engineering disputes.

Philip advises a wide range of professionals with respect to insurance policies and contractual indemnity issues, quantum and the prospects of recovery against other parties.  He also provides advice to underwriters and insureds with respect to policy construction and interpretation.

Philip has conducted the defence of multi-party commercial, contractual and property disputes in several jurisdictions including Supreme Courts and Courts of Appeal (State) and up to Full Court (Federal).  He has also prepared, attended and participated in numerous mediations to explore the private and commercial resolution of disputes.  Philip regularly publishes articles and presents to client industry events.
