Brisbane - Resources partner presenting at 5th Land Access Forum

Resources Partner James Plumb is presenting at the 5th Land Access Forum in Brisbane on 27 - 28 August 2014 at Royal on the Park.

James' session titled Major legislative reform in Queensland – the Mineral and Energy Resources (Common Provisions) Bill 2014 – Implications to the Queensland land access framework will:

  • Provide a summary of the key changes to the land access regime.
  • Consider the impact on resource proponents.
  • Consider the impact on private landholders.
  • Summarise the changes to land access rights and obligations in respect of overlapping tenure holders and considering the impact on the production and exploration tenure holder’s right of access to land.
  • Consider the benefits and the pitfalls of the new regime.

Additionally, James will join other industry professionals for the panel discussion - Finding a middle and workable ground which will run from 2.10pm.  The informative panel discussion will cover:

  • Shared land use - Can mining and agriculture co-exist?
  • Improving negotiation and landholder compensation.
  • What is appropriate compensation?
  • Managing the expectation of all parties.
