A new way of managing land access in Queensland
May 2010 |The Queensland government released the Geothermal Energy Bill on Wednesday 19 May 2010.
While a key focus of the new Bill is the introduction of a new legislative regime governing large scale geothermal energy exploration and production projects, the Bill will also introduce a new land access framework that will change the way resource explorers and producers will engage with landholders in this State.
The release of the Bill follows the release of the “Land Access Policy Framework” in December 2009 by Stephen Robertson, the Queensland Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy. The announcement of the proposed Framework followed on from the “Land Access Strategy” released by the government in 2008.
