Alicia Curd is a Senior Associate in the General Liability team.
Alicia
Curd is a highly experienced insurance lawyer with a comprehensive background
in handling complex insurance matters for a diverse range of clients. Her
expertise spans across various aspects of insurance law, with a particular
focus on public liability claims and product liability.
Throughout her career, Alicia has acted for national publicly listed insurers, liaising with brokers, agents and underwriters while acting for various clients from individuals to private and publicly listed companies including those with large, self-insured retentions. Her comprehensive knowledge of the various national legal frameworks, including the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (Qld) has been instrumental in managing public liability claims in not only Queensland but nationally. Having worked for the State of Queensland and on Commissions of Inquiries, Alicia’s experience has seen her act in a number of highly complex matters, many of which were of public interest such as sensitive historical claims and those involving psychiatric and psychological injuries.
Additionally, when working in-house for a major insurer she managed a broad range of injury matters, including those with property and product liability components. She is adept at managing claims resulting from fire and has considered a significant number of policy exclusions and coverage intentions.
Alicia’s
diverse experience and deep understanding of insurance law make her a valuable
asset in navigating the complex landscape of insurance claims having had the
opportunity to appear before various State District and Supreme Courts across
Australia.
