Insurance

Overview

Whether it is a natural disaster or a pandemic – the insurance industry is where people turn when it is time to rebuild their lives. And, with customer expectations and public scrutiny higher than ever before, organisations in the insurance industry are under pressure to be agile, innovative, and resilient.

Our involvement in the insurance industry dates back more than three decades. In this time, we have developed technical expertise, commercial knowledge, and efficient processes specific to the insurance industry, translating to market leading results for our clients and stakeholders.

As a long-standing legal service provider to the insurance industry, we understand the relationship between the insurer, broker, and insured is at its most critical when a claim is being handled. We recognise this sensitivity and take steps to ensure all parties are kept informed, and feel appropriately involved in the decision making process.

We act for major insurance companies, underwriting agencies, captive insurers, affinity groups, self-insureds, and insurance brokers – helping them navigate claims, assess risk and ultimately protect and create value for their policy holders.

Our partners are well connected in the industry with longstanding relationships with insurers, underwriters and brokers, as well as established international connections such as Insurance Law Global.

We have been involved in the London Market for more than 25 years – acting for more than 30 Lloyd’s Syndicates in London and Singapore in a range of claims. Our partners visit London regularly to service clients’ needs, maintain their networks and stay informed with market trends.

We invest in the learning and development of the insurance industry by publishing guides and gazettes specific to insurance law cases, presenting to claims managers on key issues relevant to them, and providing insights to insurance associations to share with their members.

We actively participate in insurance conferences and events – including those run by associations such as Women in Insurance, the Australasian Professional Indemnity Group Inc and Australian Insurance Law Association.  Some of our partners have been recognised for their contribution through lifetime memberships with many serving on committees.
