Construction, Projects & Infrastructure

Overview

Helping solve legal issues relating to construction, projects and infrastructure has been one of Carter Newell’s core service offerings for more than
three decades.

With five partners specialising in construction contracts, insurance, and litigation, our team supports builders, contractors, principals, sub-contractors, developers, suppliers, and construction insurers of public and large private companies throughout Australia.

We advise on issues ranging from project management and litigation, through to highly specialised areas such as claims arising out of the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017 (Qld).

While we can assist any organisation with construction law issues, we regularly advise those in construction, property development, engineering, mining and renewable energy. As a result, we have developed specialist industry and commercial expertise to complement our technical legal expertise.

Our team is industry recognised with Partner Patrick Mead awarded Litigator of the Year at the 2026 Australian Law Awards and Construction & Infrastructure Partner of the Year by Lawyers Weekly in 2025. In addition, five of our team members were recognised in the Construction and Infrastructure Law in Best Lawyers in Australia 2027 Edition.

Carter Newell’s expertise in this area, at both a firm and partner level, is also recognised by its listings in Leading Construction & Infrastructure Litigation Law Firms – Queensland (2026) and Leading Construction & Infrastructure Litigation Lawyers – Queensland (2026) by Doyle’s Guide.
