Legal Secretary (Construction & Engineering) - Brisbane

Carter Newell has a rare opportunity available for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Construction & Engineering team. Led by four Partners, the Construction & Engineering team acts for public and significant private companies in the mining, engineering, construction and property industries, including developers, main contractors, principals, sub contractors, suppliers and construction insurers. With a strong national reputation, the team is regarded as one of the most respected legal practices dealing with construction and engineering issues.
This role will see you supporting two Partners, one Special Counsel and a Solicitor working across a range of litigious matters. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with clients via email and telephone;
- Conflict searches;
- Document management, including preparation of briefs and associated legal correspondence and documents;
- Matter management (opening, closing matters);
- Diary management;
- Travel arrangements and itineraries;
- Monthly billing on Expert;
- Monthly expense reconciliation;
- Associated administrative duties.
All secretarial roles are supported by an internal WP resource as well as dedicated filing clerks.
Essential Experience and Criteria
You will have at least 5 years experience as a legal secretary, having worked in litigation roles before. You will have a flexible and positive disposition with well developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Your 'can do' attitude, proactive approach and ability to prioritise under pressure will make you a valued member of the CN team.
