12th annual Bake Off success

As part of Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea, Carter Newell’s 12th annual Bake Off took place on Friday 26 May raising funds for Cancer Council.

The call went out for would-be chefs to bake their best for a chance to be awarded best savoury dish, best sweet dish, or the coveted ‘stand out stirrer’ title for best overall dish of the day.

The Bake Off best team was also continued this year, awarded for quality and quantity of entries, in addition to the team’s commitment and enthusiasm.

The firm was pleased to welcome the Cancer Council’s Rebecca Lawrence as a judge, alongside last year’s overall winner Special Counsel Amy Gill, filing clerk Michael Peel and Chief Financial Officer Daren White.

After tasting an array of delectable dishes, best savory dish was awarded to Partner, Bronwyn Clarkson for her mini quiches, best sweet dish was awarded to Marketing Coordinator Ella Donlevy-Morrison for her five-layer butter cake layered with homemade raspberry coulis and fresh raspberry buttercream frosting, the team division was awarded to the combined Resources and Corporate teams, and overall winner went to Partner Luke Preston for his tarte aux fruits, otherwise known as a fruit flan.

A popular day in the firm's workplace giving program calendar, staff donated money in order to sample the delicious food on offer.

The Cancer Council's Biggest Morning tea raises vital funds for cancer research, prevention and support services.
