Carter Newell starts 2017 with a new appointment for the Melbourne office and three elevations

Carter Newell Lawyers starts 2017 with the appointment of Ben Hall, Special Counsel to the Melbourne office.

With over 18 years experience including the day to day management of a law firm, Ben brings a wealth of knowledge to the Carter Newell team. In addition to leading the Melbourne office, Ben’s experience as an insurance lawyer and accredited commercial litigation specialist will support the growth of the firm’s eastern seaboard presence. Ben’s insurance experience is in the areas of professional indemnity, medical malpractice, public and product liability claims, as well as disciplinary complaints and investigations and defence of recovery claims by statutory insurers.

Being elevated to senior associate are Katherine Bland (Property & Injury Liability), alongside new associates Rebecca Ebzery (Construction & Engineering) and William Keating (Corporate).

Katherine’s experience relates to personal injury and property damage claims including issues of indemnity, liability and quantum. She has successfully appeared on behalf of her clients at compulsory conferences, mediations and trials.

Rebecca conducts a range of complex disputes for construction clients, both litigated and pre-litigated, ranging from contractual disputes to allegations of misleading or deceptive conduct under the Australian Consumer Law. She is also involved in construction insurance matters, both advising insurers on indemnity and conducting the subrogated defence of claims on behalf of an insured. 

William has considerable experience in private M&A, corporate restructuring and general contractual drafting and negotiation. William also regularly assists legal counsel of both public and private companies on a wide range of matters, including capital raising (debt and equity), corporate finance and corporate governance.
