Carter Newell expands its Melbourne offering

Carter Newell Lawyers is pleased to announce the recent appointment of two senior lawyers to its Melbourne Insurance team. Rosalind Gilsenan, Special Counsel and Alison Elmes, Special Counsel have joined the firm. 

Rosalind Gilsenan has over 20 years’ experience in insurance law with a specialised focus on the defence of personal injury, property damage (including expertise in defence of Water Act 1989 (Vic) claims in VCAT), product liability, historical educational and institutional claims and medical negligence claims. Her expertise also extends to indemnity and insurance policy interpretation. Rosalind brings a high level of technical expertise, negotiation and communication skills in the management of often sensitive and high-profile claims. She has acted as an accredited mediator in injury claims and business disputes.

Alison Elmes brings a wealth of experience to the team. She provides the highest quality advice to a broad range of Australian and global insurer clients. Alison’s extensive experience includes professional indemnity, public liability, catastrophic injury claims, coronial inquiries, historical educational and institutional claims, medical negligence, allied health, directors’ and officers’ and coverage disputes.  Alison has also recently been appointed as a sessional member of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
