Jasmine is a Senior Associate in Carter Newell's Resources and Commercial Property teams. Jasmine has extensive experience in advising clients on access to land for resource development in Queensland and resolving complex land access and compensation disputes.
Jasmine's experience in the Resources space includes advising international oil and gas clients on land access strategy and assisting clients in negotiating conduct and compensation agreements to facilitate access to private land for resource development. She has a detailed understanding of the compensation and negotiated access provisions of the petroleum legislation, and has assisted clients in preparing for and negotiating successful outcomes at conference and mediation.
Jasmine's Commercial Property experience includes commercial and residential leasing, easements and option arrangements, the acquisition and disposal of commercial property including due diligence and conveyancing, determining native title status of land, and dealing with state leasehold land. Jasmine has worked closely with departmental staff to obtain Ministerial consent to easements over state land for gas pipelines, including negotiating amendments to the department's conditions.
Jasmine has worked on significant environmental matters advising clients on the potential impact of contamination, notification obligations and compliance with environmental regulations. She has also given advice to clients on project structuring for environmental licensing purposes and negotiated alternative arrangements to prescribed noise limits with affected landholders.
Jasmine is currently undertaking her Master of Laws at QUT and has completed research papers on compensation entitlement under Queensland's petroleum legislation, freeholding native title land and environmental conditioning relating to project decommissioning and end of project life environmental issues.
