Shannon has more than 10 years experience in Australian and international aviation law and is a specialist in aviation insurance and litigation. During this time, she has managed aviation personal injury, property damage (including subrogated recovery actions) and product liability claims for clients across the full range of the aviation industry, including corporate clients and domestic and international insurers. Shannon is a specialist in Coronial Inquests, having been involved in a number of high profile aviation related inquests since 2005.

Shannon has managed commercial and litigated disputes across Australia, the United States of America, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and the Pacific Islands. She has significant experience in managing major aviation losses and personal injury claims for airlines in Papua New Guinea, and in doing so, has provided her airline clients and their insurers with media and crisis management strategies and advice, together with recommendations for managing country specific customary practices which flow following a major aviation incident.

Shannon regularly acts for a number of primary and secondary airports in Australia and the Pacific, advising on risk management issues and dispute resolution. She is also experienced in dealing with claims on behalf of airport and aviation ancillary services such as ground handlers, catering and cleaning companies and LAMEs and is fully conversant with the full range of standardised industry contracts / agreements (i.e. IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreements) in place between corporates operating in this space.

A regular industry contributor, Shannon is a Director on the National Board of the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (ALAANZ), Vice-President of the Queensland Branch of ALAANZ, was nominated by Australasian Lawyer in 2015 as one of '50 Women to Watch / Experts in their Field' and has been recognised by Best Lawyers (Aviation) in 2018 and 2019.

She is regularly invited to speak at numerous industry events including the Association of South Pacific Airlines, and the Australian Helicopter Industry Association’s Bi-Annual Conference. Shannon also makes regular written contributions to the aviation community via the publication of Carter Newell newsletter updates and ALAANZ, Aviation Briefs, and is often sought for media comment on aviation matters in popular news publications such as
