About Lara
Drawing on approximately nine years’ experience across the insurance industry and civil litigation, Lara acts for domestic and international insurers and corporate clients in general liability, professional indemnity, intentional torts and personal injury matters across New South Wales and multiple Australian jurisdictions.
Lara commenced her career in insurance in 2017, managing claims across multiple portfolios including motor, property, commercial fleet and managed funds for Australasia’s largest general insurer. This grounding in claims management, including direct engagement with clients and brokers, liability assessment and decisions with real financial consequences, gives her a client-side perspective that underpins her litigation practice.
Prior to joining Carter Newell, Lara practised at two leading insurance law firms, acting for major domestic insurers in motor and general liability litigation across personal injury, institutional abuse, property damage, recoveries and first-party building claims. Since joining Carter Newell’s Sydney office, she has developed a practice spanning general liability, professional indemnity and intentional torts, including assault, battery and trespass, for a broad range of domestic and international insurers and corporate clients.
Lara has appeared in and managed matters across Local, District and Supreme Courts in New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia and has participated in Coronial Inquests. Her approach is commercially focused and detail-driven, with an emphasis on early investigation and proactive case strategy to achieve favourable resolutions while managing defence spend.
