About Joseph
Joseph is a Special Counsel in Carter Newell’s Professional Liability team, with over 12 years’ experience in professional liability, financial lines insurance, and workplace health and safety law.
Joseph acts for insurers and corporate insureds in the defence of regulatory investigations and prosecutions arising under workplace health and safety, electrical safety and other health and safety legislation, as well as investigations conducted by industry regulators and government authorities. His experience spans all stages of the investigation and prosecution process. Joseph regularly assists insureds with the initial regulator investigation. He also regularly advises on and represents insureds during prosecutions, including advising on the brief of evidence, defence prospects, negotiating with the prosecution with respect to the charges, representing insureds at sentencing hearings, defended trials and appeals. Joseph also provides separate representation to employees involved in regulatory investigations.
Joseph also has extensive experience in professional liability, acting for a broad range of professionals including real estate agents, commercial property managers, certifiers, healthcare professionals, accountants, migration agents and financial advisers in both pre-court and litigated claims. In addition, Joseph also represents clients with respect to workplace claims involving sexual harassment and discrimination and personal injury.
