Michael is a Partner in Carter Newell’s Construction & Engineering team, practicing predominately in dispute resolution.
Michael has advised principals, contractors and consultants on issues arising on civil, building, mechanical, electrical and mining projects throughout Australia and overseas. Michael is results focused and works closely with clients to identify risks as early as possible in order to achieve commercial outcomes and avoid protracted disputes. In addition to his time in private practice, Michael worked in-house for a major international contractor in the Middle East, and has obtained an excellent understanding of key client concerns on large and complex projects.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Master of Laws and regularly contributes to leading industry publications including the International Construction Law Review, the Building & Construction Law Journal, the Australasian Dispute Resolution Journal and the Australian Construction Law Newsletter. Michael is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has been recognised in Doyle’s Guide as a Rising Star in Construction & Infrastructure Australia.
