Strategic Cropping Land: the proposed new framework

Sep 2010 |

The Queensland Government considers "Queensland's best cropping land, defined as strategic cropping land, to be a finite resource that must be conserved and managed for the long-term for food production and regional growth."

The policy framework is aimed at identifying Queensland's best cropping land, and at excluding development that may impact upon that land's production capability.

The framework contemplates new legislation to implement the policy initiatives, with the legislation planned to be introduced in early 2011.
