Carter Newell Lawyers

Hannah joined Carter Newell’s Planning & Environment team in September 2020.  With a background in commercial litigation, she provides both private and public sector clients with pragmatic advice relating to planning and development approvals, environmental compliance, incidence response, litigious negotiation and matter strategy.

Hannah acts for a vast array of clients including extractive resource operators, developers, government entities, retirement facilities, receivers and managers and land owners.  She undertakes complex litigation and has appeared on behalf of her clients in the Planning and Environment Court, the Court of Appeal and the Land Court.

A sought after speaker, Hannah is passionate about educating clients on planning and environmental law.  She also regularly contributes to the industry through white papers, alerts and newsletters.

As a member of the Queensland Environment Law Association’s Management Committee, Hannah is the current President, Co-Chair of the Seminar Sub-Committee, Co-Chair of the Conference Sub-Committee and Member of the Conference Sub-Committee as well as Seminar Sub-Committee. In the past, she has also been QELA's Vice President, Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Sub-Committee and Member of the Legislative Sub-Committee. In addition, she is also a member of the Queensland Law Society's Planning & Environmental Law Committee and the Property Council of Australia’s Queensland Planning and Environment Committee.

She has been recognised by Best Lawyers in Australia 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019 editions in the fields of Planning and Environmental Law and Land Use and Zoning Law.
